Hello! I'm Nikki.
Welcome to the creative heart of Watercolor With Nikki. I am a self-taught, second-shift artist (I have a full-time job during the day in IT). I have only ever taken one drawing class in my life, and I began watercolor painting in December 2025 as a way to help me relax.
I have always been pretty crafty and have lots of hobbies, including sewing, crocheting, gardening, graphic design, photography, bullet journaling, writing, 3D printing, and now, watercolor painting!
You will often see my signature sleeping watercolor fox throughout my space. This is an homage to a family crest that my oldest created for us, representing cleverness, swift-wittedness, and mischievousness.
Embracing the Beginner Stage
Let’s be honest: learning something new as an adult is uniquely intimidating. It is incredibly hard to be a beginner, and it feels even harder to give yourself permission to "suck" at something out in the open. But I'm here for it, and I'm ready to be vulnerable.
The Daily Journey
I created this digital studio not just to showcase my finished pieces, but to share the beautiful, sometimes messy reality of a daily painting practice. Here, I document my "Daily Journey," sharing behind-the-scenes sketches, color palette tests, the mistakes I learn from, and the little sparks of inspiration that lead to my final paintings.
Sharing the Magic
I believe that everyone should have the chance to create something beautiful without the pressure of perfection. That is why I am so passionate about sharing my favorite resources and the exact watercolor tools I use every day. Whether you are a fellow artist looking for the perfect brush, an adult beginner ready to make your brave first mark in a sketchbook, or simply someone who enjoys peaceful art, I am so glad you found your way here.
Grab a cup of tea, look around, and let's explore the magic of watercolor together!
